Capcom is a popular name in the gaming industry, having been in existence since 1983. After all these years, Capcom is still going strong on the back of its gaming franchises such as Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry and more.

Unsurprisingly, Capcom has witnessed substantial growth in its games in recent years, particularly in the last couple of years.

As per the company’s estimates, it expects to sell 45 million game units in 2024. Last year, the Japanese company sold 41.7 million units, thus representing an annual increase of 7.9%.

Capcom has witnessed a very healthy growth in its game sales since 2021, after a period of stagnation from 2018 to 2020. Following a period of sustained growth in game-sales, the figures remained unmoved during this three-year period.

However, 2021 proved to be a massive year for the Japanese company., Capcom sold an impressive total of 30.1 million units on the back of an annual increase of 18%. The success in 2021 was primarily driven by the release of Resident Evil Village.

This success was followed by yet another annual increase of 8.3%, with 32.6 million units sold in 2022The next year proved to be yet another year of massive growth for Capcom as it sold 41.7 million games. Thus, the sales increased by a whopping 28% in 2023. Resident Evil was a huge hit for Capcom in 2023 and a major reason behind the massive increase in sales. As stated above, the sales are expected to increase by a further 7.9% in 2024.

The future looks bright for Capcom as its popular franchise Resident Evil is at the peak of its popularity, and the new entry in the hugely popular Monster World series, called Monster Hunter Wilds, is expected to be released in 2025.

Note: Years end March 31
